Single Life – For Girls Only

Does having a long term partner really bring the rewards we hear about, and does being hooked up give us that certainty of feeling secure? Initially yes, but according to recent London relationships publications, many couples find themselves at a lower level of happiness in the long run.

So many men and women view becoming single as simply a stepping stone between finding a new partner – a period of limbo. But why? there is no shame or reason to hurry this process along. Statistics throughout time prove that we have more chance in finding a partner if we stop actively looking.

Do you often wonder why it is that you’re the last single girl out of all your married or hooked up girlfriends? Perhaps you yourself are not single but you have a very talented and attractive friend or relative who just can’t seem to land a great guy? Seriously, it just comes down to a law of averages until your number comes up, and you are not alone, 96 million other Americans are single – just like you!

30 truly is the new 20 when it comes to lifestyles and choices single girls face. We as a society are coming to terms with the decisions single females are making – yes it’s okay not to be married – yes it’s okay to have casual sex!

Males have forever had it much easier when it comes to being labeled as single. Society accepts a single man better than a single woman. Until recent generations, if a woman was not married by the age of around 30 (at the latest) her options were limited and she was severely limited by career choice which normally saw her living with her parents for financial support.

Every aspect of a woman’s life, whether single or attached is starting to mirror men’s lives, and some roles are even switching. Women are often working as long as their husbands, or are becoming the principal money earner setting the scene for a new generation of Mr. Mums.

Women are also taking the lead when it comes to sex and relationships with the modern day girls not as often prepared to sit arounnd and wait for the man to make the moves. And the proof lies in cyberspace. Statistics just released from several U.K dating websites tell us the women memberships with online personals dating are higher than men. We’re also told that these frisky ladies are 20% more likely to have sex on a first date as compared to meeting men in an offline scenario.

Analyzing over 900 couples in a recent study by a Californian University determined that the highs of marriage were short lived after the fantasy of the nuptials wore off. For over 90% of respondents in the research, old habits and routine soon played the major factors that guided the direction of relationships – new vows and commitments were more often that not short lived. The report also suggests serious flaws in previous research that maintains people in long term relationships are happier than those who are single.

Remember Agent 99 from the old classic long running TV show, Get Smart? actress Barbara Feldon who starred along side Agent 86 wrote a best seller called Living Alone and Loving It which is said to be one of the all time most inspirational guides for single women.

Feldon and her book featured in an editorial for The Seattle Times, added this to her interview “I can’t think of anything else I’d rather be doing than helping people feel whole regardless of whether they were living alone or not, and I’ve found that most single women appeared to be in a self transition period until Mr. Right came along but my message is helping single women around the world live as a complete person all by themselves, without needing a mate to feel happy.”
